My mom used to make and sell little wood houses that she painted. She would create whole villages with country stores, bake shops and ice cream parlors just to name a few. She has since retired her house making and had several, blank, wooden houses left over. I decided to take a few and see what I could do with them. This is the result.
This house is a sculptural piece and all of the sides and the roof have been altered and collaged. You can view more pics of this piece at my Etsy shop. http://sarahogren.etsy.com
This is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you Maria!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! It's nice when you can continue a tradition in your own way. My mother and grandmother used to make quilts. Years later, I ended up making several large scale decorative soft sculptures in college... which basically means big useless quilts. My mom saw my projects and said, "Look... okay. I guess. Why this crooked? Why the stitches not so good? No one ever buy this. You cannot use. One time, everything fall apart. Look... okay. I guess."
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha!
Has your mom saw your intrepretation yet? And hopefully she'll like your's better than my mom liked mine! :-)
It's great that you have a sense of humor about it Andrew! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom will tell me if she doesn't like something or make no comment at all. She has seen this house and told me that she liked it. So I have momma's approval on this one. :)
Tis is beautiful! I love it! I'm going to visit your etsy shop right now!
ReplyDeleteThank you Niki. I will have more houses in mid January.
